Friday Beer Tasting

So I just finished my tasting. I have full reviews on the three that I have tasted tonight.

and Tonight's Selection is...

Reviews:

Newport Storm Hurricane Pale Ale

Color: Amber/Golden

Clearity: Near Transparent

Nose: mostly bread, some nut, vegetive(asparagus)

Taste: the front is very clean but the middle you get a nice bite of hops and finishes with a very dry hop and tannin sensations almost begging for another sip.

Recommendations: Pizza or Fried Chicken or something breaded and starchy definitely a good beer with friends on game day.

Long Trail: Double Bag

Color: Burnt Orange

Clearity: Clear and clean

Nose: Citrus (grapefruit), Earthy almost like Cilantro

Taste: Crispy sour sensation first, some hops but not much more creamy then bitter and almost irresistibly smooth… If you drink mass produced cardboard water for some reason this MAY help you see the light.

Recommendations: Grilled Steaks or Seafood even some Grilled Portabellos anything seared and flame broiled would fit this amazingly.

Dog Fish Head: Olde School Barley Wine

Color: Red like seriously Fire Red

Clearity: Almost Clear

Nose: Sweet makes me think of Juice Fruit gum. also more Starchy but very sweet.

Taste: First it's like a sweet white wine then you get a small hint of hops. After that you get a big burn from the 15% alcohol

Recommendations: (this is straight off the bottle and I have to share it) Open Bottle, Pour into two snifters, Enjoy, OR Walk hand in neck into the middle of the woods. Use a shovel and dig a 2x2 hole three feet deep. Seal in a plastic bag. Place in hole & Pack with dirt. Memorize location & leave. Return exactly one year later . Dig up bottle, open & enjoy

Friends Cost Money

Studying for Finals but just taking a break to post this.

My coworker and I will hopefully begin brewing this spring and I will join JBREW the brewing club at school the only problem with this is it all costs money... Money I don't have but this is all to get experience for the future.

but I have created a list of goals for the rest of this school year to aid in this process.

Step 1:

Buy two books on home brewing
This was recommended to me by my coworker I want to start brewing with and from the info provided on Amazon it looks great. I want this one because Sam just seems like an awesome guy and I want to read his full story.

Step 2:

Join JBREW pretty self explanatory but it is more complicated then that. It is just so difficult to make the meetings with work, class, and not having a car but this must be done to get the rudimentary knowledge I need to progress at the speed I want.

Finally Step 3:

Brew with Vinny. Having a partner in crime would be awesome and one that is as passionate as I am. Again the biggest problem is a fiscal one. The initial cost of a brew kit isn't too pricey but for a broke college student it is enough to have his girlfriend say no, and then their is the cost of the materials for each brew. I don't know how much Yeast, Malt, Bottles, and flavoring supplies will set someone back but if it's not free it is still to much for me. Maybe I will scam the FREE section of craigslist for a while to see what I can come across but I will be getting my refund check in the spring and after I maybe buy a moped... which seems more and more like an unnecessary luxury everyday. I feel like the hole of debt and decisions I must make to wade my way out will never come to fruition. This is why I love beer let me crack one open and I will stop worrying.

I need a funny drunk pic to end this one

Beer Survey

Doing some research and found this survey on drinkcraftbeers.com and wanted to share it.

Oh I have also decided to taste a Magic Hat this weekend still looking for one more but I may just look for that when I am in the store.

It will probably be a Long Trail but I really want to go up to their pub for a tasting...

I hate you as much as people who say Hydrogen Dioxide

So last night I decided to do something new for this next Tri. I will take my camera around everyday and take at least one pic everyday. I feel this will help my photography skill and ability to be more instantaneous in deciding what is photo worthy. Oh and I will have more pics to post here and facebook We are all a little narcissistic.

So beyond that I am pumped to pick to up my beer for tasting this weekend I think I will do:

1 Flying Dog

1 Dogfish Head

1 Newport Storm

1 Stone

I am still not sure on the other two, definitely not Sam Adams but beyond that I am interested in any other craft beer. If you have any recommendations let me know.

So at work we have a new supervisor. Most of the other guys don't like her very much but honestly I think shes kind of cool. I think she just isn't liked very much because she's new and young oh and a pastry major. I understand these aren't unfounded judgments considering many of our prior experiences but I don't think fair to judge so harshly.

Finals week means three things.... Slow at work.... Stress on FaceBook.... A week off of everything

Stone Levitation and New Knives

This is tonight's drink Stone Levitation... It is in my Frog and Onion glass from Bermuda, and it is sitting next to these beautiful pieces of hardware... I rarely use emoticons but :) they will be aiding me in making Yellow Curry Chicken and a whatever vegetable I have in my fridge probably with baked potatoes because I still have half a 10lb bag of russets I got at Price Rite for $3.45. If you like Stone or Levitation tell me what you think.

New Nightmares and Mutants

So I finally got around to watching the new
Nightmare On Elm Stree

I didn't have any expectations of this film and good thing I didn't because it was Rorschach pretending to be a menacing Robert England and that is my view of Freddy. The story is lacking because by the time the plot goes anywhere everyone is dead. I don't think it is a good film to get new NOES fans because it assumes you know to much already and if you are unfamiliar with the franchise you might feel like it's giving you the answers before it asks the questions.

I give A Nightmare On Elm Street 2010.... 2.5 flaming skulls out of 5

Now that that's out of the way I want to say how pumped I am for the marvel movies this summer especially Xmen First Class. From the trailer it looks epic and I can't wait to see it. Captain America looks awesome too but Thor I am a little wary about. The writing and plot of Thor has to be really strong for it to be good.

Regina Spektor - On The Radio [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

And on the Radio You'll Hear November Rain

Good Evening Sports Fans:

Here is my review for RAMPAGE
Ok first off I am so sick of this artsy fartsy BS of not using a steady cam. I will buy you a damn tripod. Now that I got this off my chest there is an automatic bias caused by the scene in the hair salon... I LOVE Catherine Isabelle. I even own those shitty sequels to Gingersnaps and when I found out she was in an episode of Psych I watched the entire series on NETFLIX. So I guess you should get an actual review as well. The film is short (85minutes) but what is lacks in length it makes up in plot which is dynamic. I like when a single film fills in all the holes but the camera shaking still pissed me off like physically I was getting as enraged as Bill which may have been the goal.

In all I give RAMPAGE 3.5 Flaming Skulls out of 5

Salisbury Steak and Guitar Strings

Dear Whoever the Hell Cares,

I really want to start playing guitar again but I desperately need to buy strings and a tuner. I don't want to start a band or anything just jam out maybe chill and jam with some people that's all. I just miss playing.

Oh, does anyone have any interesting original recipes for ground beef. I seem to be limited to Burgers, Salisbury Steak, Tacos, Hamburger Helper, Meatballs, and pseudo Stroganoff and I want to expand my knowledge and usage of this inexpensive product. If anyone can think of something send me a comment.

Tonight I will be watching the movie Rampage suggested by a coworker and I am hoping for good things... but this same coworker wants me to watch the entire SAW franchise and I just don't like those films. I'll post later with my review of Rampage and until next time.

Readers Beware; You're in for a Scare

oh Goosebumps

Cannibalized Christians: a story of Jack Daniels and HARD ROCK!!

Tonight I have been watching the 100 Greatest Hard Rock songs on VH1 and I have been drinking a cocktail of my own creation.

Jack Daniels Pink Lemonade
2oz Jack Daniels
1/2oz Vodka
1oz Lemon Juice
2.5oz Cranberry Juice
1tsp sugar

Shaken served in a High Ball glass

As many know I normally consider myself a beer drinker and love my strange brews but tonight I was in the mood for my second beverage of choice Whiskey... and I love most of it.

I am still waiting for an email to pick up my free bottle of Single Malt Scotch but back to my night.

You may be asking what the first part my title for this post means. Simply this

3/4oz Amaretto
3/4oz Jack Daniels
3/4oz Jagermeister
Coca Cola

Does that not sound Delicious, and the name Cannibalized Christian that is right up my alley.

I also made a delicious meal for dinner. Coconut Chicken Fried Basmati Rice. It was amazing one single problem for my girlfriend too spicy. I will happily post the recipe if you ask.
